Animal Science 1A/B Introduction This class focuses on small animal care and management. Students are given the opportunity to develop animal restraint skills on small animals such as dogs, cats, and guinea pigs for medical procedures. As well understand the care and management of these animals. Students also develop a semester long Agri science project to help develop their critical thinking and properly execute the scientific method. Principle of Animal Science Concentrator This class focuses on large animal care and the livestock industry. Students are given the opportunity to develop animal restraint skills on goats, ponies, and sheep for medical procedures. Students will also keep medical records of the school farm animals and develop a vaccine schedule for the animals. Students will develop a SAE (supervised agriculture experience) Project that they will develop as long as they are in the animal science pathway. Anatomy and Physiology, Vet Science A/B Capstone Students will gain an understanding on the Veterinary Industry, and discuss salary, school, and experience needed to become a Vet. They will develop a strong vocabulary on medical terms used to describe procedures and diseases. Second semester students will learn about the different body structures of animals, and final project will be a virtual and/or real dissection of a fetal pig to gain better understanding of the body structures learned through out the semester.
