1930 to 1939

 
In January 1931, students returned from Winter vacation to move into the new school buildings facing Topanga Cyn. Blvd.
 
 
As a part of the same construction project, the fire damaged 1916 Hart Street structure was remodeled as a one-story building.
 
 
The outdoor Greek Theater was also remodeled and expanded.
 
 
In 1931, the town of Owensmouth changed its name to Canoga Park. Despite protests from alumni, the school was also renamed to avoid confusion and "more closely identify the school with the community."  This is a picture of Canoga Park High School in 1938.
 
 

Snow on January 15, 1932 inspired snowball fights and a snowman on the front lawn of Canoga's campus

The Big Flood of 1938 occurred on March 8th.The picture on the left was taken on Topanga and Vanowen looking north up Topanga. The picture on the right appears to be on the corner of Hart St.and Topanga looking south.
 
Monroe Hall was completed in May 1939 during the Great Depression by the PWA. It is identified as historically significant in the California Register of Historic Resources. The Assembly Hall is named in honor of Canoga's first principal, G. Walter Monroe. Monroe was principal for twenty-three years, beginning in 1915.
