LAUSD HALLOWEEN GUIDELINES
These guidelines have been developed by the Los Angeles Unified School District to allow students to participate in enjoyable, positive activities, while maintaining student safety.
Students may wear costumes to school only on Friday, October 30, 2026.
Costumes may not be demeaning to any person or group based on age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, nationality, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or individuals (staff or student) at the school.
Costumes must comply with the dress code restriction against images that are “vulgar, sexually suggestive, discriminatory, obscene, libelous, contain threats, or that promote illegal or violent content such as the unlawful use of weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or drug paraphernalia” (BUL-6494.0) or cause a significant disruption or distraction to the school program.
No weapons or replica weapons are to be brought to school.
Mask may not completely obscure the identity of the student. However, masks may be worn during a parade or other specific activity, provided that safety is not hindered.
No costume can be worn that is unsafe or that may create a safety hazard. Costumes may not impair a student’s vision or movement (e.g., ability to climb stairs).
