Dear Parents and Students,
Hello, LAUSD Community! Scott M. Schmerelson, your board president here with a very brief message. First, let me start by saying that with Summer ending soon, it means that our students, teachers and staff are back in the classroom. Over the summer, members of the LAUSD family were hard at work preparing our school sites so that all students, teachers, staff, and families can return to a clean and safe environment.
While challenges remain for the upcoming school year, LAUSD has demonstrated resiliency and has proven our doubters wrong last year. This year, again, will be a challenge but we are on the right trajectory to enhance, not just our academic progress, but provide important resources to students and staff, such as mental health, food, college and career prep, and other important programs that help our students succeed. Public education and public schools are still thriving. They are constantly evolving and this year we will continue to strive for excellence. Thank you, Los Angeles Unified and please have a safe and pleasant 2026-2027 school year!
