Show Transcript hi I'm Miss Mary I'm the psychiatric social worker hey I'm coach pukey I'm your school climate advocate here at Canoga Park High School for Hunter cup we focus on 3 main points we wanted to improve the overall School climate at kenoga we wanted to improve attendance and and make kids excited to come to school every single day and give them a reason to show up every day and we wanted to incorporate the hunter values and by doing that kids were able to invite their friends to watch them play teachers came counselors came students came everyone came out to support this second annual Hunters cup so for the attendance component of this tournament we really wanted to make sure that the students weren't just showing up for the tournament but also show up for class every day so what we did is looked up every student's individual attendance record and then you know made sure that they were attending and we also looked at period absences and we really just wanted to drive home the fact that you know attendance really is an important factor when it comes to school academics so we noticed that soccer was a really big part of the Koga culture here and we wanted to find a way to bring soccer to the school and really unify the entire school and we'd always notice that the kids would play with Mr Sanford and Mr Gwyn during lunch every day in the small gym so we kind of put our heads together and came up with Hunter cup and came up with this tournament and we saw the kids were getting really excited about it they were excited about making their names and bringing their friends to play another saying that the kids loved was hearing their names across the PA system during the morning announcements they also love the fact at the end of the hunter cup they had a chance to play against Mr Gwen Mr Stanford Mr Castillo and the soccer coach so for Hunter cup we also decided to focus is on our values here as a hunter not only on the field but also off the field we focused on resiliency by managing their schoolwork also their extracurricular activities their sport along with Hunter cup they also demonstrated being Noble by doing the right thing and attending class just showing up every day excited um for Hunter cups we want to thank everyone that participated in Hunter Cup this year and everyone that supported us throughout this entire Activity thank you Miss Castro for helping make this possible thank thank you Mr Stanford for being out on the field with us and getting nice shots appointment for letting us borrow the bibs equipment it was really nice to see a bunch of the other teachers who also came out to kind of support the students in their uh Hunter Cup Tournament and thank you to all the teachers that let us summon students and let us continue as we take them out of class we appreciate that we got another 1 thank you to the cafeteria workers who will hold the doors open so the kids can get their lunch and thank you to go for helping us get the lunches for all those kids and all those students and thank you to miss Higgins she was very patient with the students great thank you too Print
