Canoga Park High School's Football Game Announcer's Final Call...Mic Drop

CP Announcer's Final Call...Mic Drop

Mr. Mark Nogy, 1981 Canoga Park High School Alumni, announced his final home game in the Rudy Lugo Stadium press box, lovingly called "The Perch."

Mr. Nogy and Mr. Antony Villalobos, who started the same 1995 season as the clock operator, gave each other a big hug after the clock hit zero, ending a 30 year telecommunication duo.

"I'm happy the Hunters ended with a victory in my last game," Mr. Nogy said.

Why not finish the season? "I wanted to end as close to our 30th anniversary date as I could, we started in September of '95."

Mr. Nogy also taught social studies at CPHS from 1995 - 2003. Then transitioned to CPHS counselor from 2003 - 2015. He's currently in his retirement year at Canoga Park Middle School. He served as Master of Ceremonies for the prestigious CPHS Memorial Day Ceremony from 2006 - 2015 and announced football games for Pierce College from 2007 - 2024.

Mr. Nogy received his Bachelor's Degree in communications, radio and broadcasting from Chico State. He also minored in History. When asked, What was the dream?

"I wanted to announce for a living, baseball, basketball, football. Like Vin Scully." Although he didn't make it to the pros, the Canoga Park community benefited from his love for the students, athletes and his Alma Mater.

Mr. Nogy's favorite memories over 30 years:

*Watching Rudy Lugo coach CPHS football. (Head Coach Rudy Lugo 1986 - 2006)

*Watching Randy Uzoma's long runs. (Uzoma, class of 2012, full ride to Nevada University, city qualifier in the 100m [10.9], 6'2" high jumper)

*Announcing the CA State boys soccer playoff games (Mid 2000's, The Coach Gwin era)

Ironically, Mr. Villalobos will retire as scoreboard operator as he'll have to take over announcing duties for the remainder of the season. "This is a school record that will never be broken," Mr. Villalobos said.

"Hey, V (That's what he calls Mr. Villalobos) maybe they'll name The Perch after us, can you imagine? The Nogy-Villalobos Perch.

You may still catch Mr. Nogy announcing a basketball game or a wrestling match (He's done one) or attending a football game as a fan. If you do, say hello...to a part of Canoga Park history.

Mr. Nogy ended every game with...

" This is your stadium announcer, Mark Nogy, along with telecommunications director Antony Villalobos, wishing you a good night. Drive home safely and God bless."
