Girls Cross Country Team Secures 8th League Title in 9 years

On Wednesday, Nov.6, the Valley Mission League Championships took place at L.A. Pierce College. The Canoga Park Girls Varsity team handily defeated a feisty San Fernando squad who had been in hot pursuit of the Lady Hunters all season. The Hunters were led by Sarai Rosas (2nd place) and VMLeague Champion Angelina Lopez (1st place). In unsatisfactory, high wind conditions, almost all the girls ran a personal best. Other Varsity runners are Abrianna Robles, Abrielle Arcilla, Dulce Godinez (Captain), Vanessa Perez and Jasmin Garcia.

TRIVIA: Did you know...A cross country team consists of a minimum of 5 and maximum of 7 team members in a race. Why can teams be upwards of 60 runners? Besides different divisions, injuries and illness may call for a need for an athlete to move into a varsity position.

Go Hunters!...and I mean GO!
