I love track and field. It's pure. It's black and white. Second largest school district in the country, LAUSD has its own section. The L.A. City Section. Over 125 schools with track teams. Hundreds and hundreds of athletes. The sport isn't sliced up like a pie. There are no divisions based on performance. No divisions based on population. Comes down to who's the best of the best. Who will represent the district at the CA state finals.
If an athlete qualifies to finals, you're basically in the top ten to twenty in the district depending on your event. The top six earn a medal. The top three punch their ticket to Fresno to compete with the best athletes in California.
